*Please note that Living in a Wildlife Corridor is open daily within the hours of 10am - 4pm Monday through Thursday, and 10am - 6pm Friday through Sunday.

  • Please note that on some dates the Rose Garden may be closing at 4:45pm. If you would like more information, please call (818) 949-4200.

  • Descanso is open 364 days a year and is closed on Dec. 25. There is ample free parking.

Please be aware that there is an uphill walk from the main entrance gate to the Boddy House. If you would like assistance reaching the Boddy House, please don’t hesitate to call ahead of your visit at (818) 949-4290 and speak with a member of the Visitor Center staff.

Accessibility

A limited number of wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for guest use at the Visitor Center. Many of Descanso’s asphalt pathways are wheelchair accessible.

The Boddy House has an accessible entrance (the original front door). As you approach the house, please proceed to the right of the main entrance to find the accessible entrance.

No animals, except service dogs, are allowed in the Gardens. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. For more on Descanso’s policies about service animals, please click here.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Members can enter Descanso Gardens without a ticket. Non-members must purchase tickets in advance, or in-person at the Visitor Center. General admission tickets are $15, student and senior tickets are $11, children’s tickets are $5, and members as well as children under 5 may enter free.

  • The Living in a Wildlife Corridor exhibit is located at the historic Boddy House, location “O” on the map above. When you visit, you’ll see signs directing you, and you can always ask any member of staff for assistance in finding your way.

  • Descanso is home to many animals including birds, deer, mountain lions, bears, snakes, squirrels and more. Enjoy viewing these creatures, but remember that this is their home and we are the visitors. It is illegal and harmful to people and wildlife to approach, feed, handle, capture or harass any animal. Please keep a safe distance. Getting too close, feeding and touching are all things that can put you and the animal in danger. To find out more about the animals that live at Descanso or to report an animal sighting, please visit the Visitor Center.
