"Far From the Madding Crowd" Hanging Poster

from $29.00
This hanging poster is a reproduction of the watercolor by artist Smrithi Krishnan, "Far From The Madding Crowd," that portrays two coyotes (Canis latrans) overlooking the city below them. As the title and tranquility of the piece suggest, Smrithi envisions how the wildlife of Los Angeles travel to escape the density of their urban environments.

Born in Bangalore, India, Smrithi first encountered wilderness at Kaziranga National Park in Assam, a breathtakingly beautiful corner of India which still remains mostly untouched. Her childhood experience of watching deer, elephants, and rhinos roam wild and unafraid in open grassland made a lasting impression, and was the beginning of a love affair with all things wild. She also has a passion for art and painting, and has volunteered for several Los Angeles arts organizations. Smrithi now serves as one of the Directors of the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy, where she combines her passions for art and wildlife to raise funds and awareness of the urgent need to protect fast-dwindling wild places.
